launch season 2010 – or, why just do it once?

Earlier this week, I heard the sweet thump of a box of books landing on my doorstep.  So, time to announce the launch of “Among the Regulars”, and also to mention a few other readings I have coming up.

Friday, June 11th @ 5.30pm for a 6pm start – Brunswick Bound Bookstore, 361 Sydney Rd Brunswick.

Hosted by the inimitable Maurice McNamara.  Launched by the inestimable Jennifer Harrison.

If you’re that way inclined, you can find the event (and me) on (de)Facebook!

Hiya Andy, really looking fwd to your book + launch. Should the 2nd para ‘Fri May 11’ be corrected to ‘Fri June 11’?
    Till then,
    Anna

Yes it should, and it has. Thanks! Oops, slight malfunction.

Hey Andy, I’m an editor of harvest magazine and we started advertising our June 11th launch last week. We didn’t mean to pinch your date – we thought the May 11th was correct! Ours will go on a bit later than yours, so hopefully people will be able to make both. (And not trying to use your blog to plug, it’s just that we no longer have your working email address and I couldn’t see one listed on here, either).

    Hope your launch goes well!

No worries, Julia. I’d planned a May launch, then postponed it, to have more of a build-up. Shame they (kind-of) clash. I’m a fan of Harvest, so hope people will go to both (I’ll probably be celebratorily imbibing after mine, tho’). Best of luck!

“However I did go to a poetry reading in the mountains (near Melbourne) on Saturday afternoon, at the Word Tree – Burrinja Gallery & Cafe, Cnr Matson Drive & Glenfern Road Upwey, 3pm to 5pm,(Usually the first Saturday of every month I think). This week the readers were Andy Jackson from Melbourne and Aidan Coleman from South Australia. I was again surprised by the quality of this reading. I continue to be surprised by the quality of readings at The Word Tree. Andy was actually previewing a new small book to be launched very soon and it stands already now as a testament to hard work and dedication to craft as a writer. The images were sharp and striking and nothing but the cleanest lines remained. The knife of these images cut sharply and deeply. Congratulations Andy and may the little boat of your new book sail well for you into the world. There was an open section of a dozen readers either side of the featured poets – the open readers courteous to their audience, sparing of ego and large on quality of work and delivery. It meant that the organisers, MC’s, Catherine Bateson and Lia Hills did not have to work hard to discipline this small mob of writers. This reading was soft and strong. Many thanks.” Lyndon Walker.
