2010 is not the end of the world, nor is 2012. Though I have no idea what it will entail for any of us, let alone me. What I do know is that I’ve been offered two splendid residencies – one at Rosebank Retreat just near Macedon (an hour north of Melbourne) – http://www.http://vwc.org.au/services/rosebank-retreat – and the other at the Katharine Susannah Prichard Writers Centre in the Perth Hills (see the blogroll for link). Looking forward to both, and hoping that any pesky hurdles don’t suddenly lunge in between me and them.
So, this is just a tiny update. I’ve added a few useful links at the bottom right blogroll (he says, wincing at the name…) – I’d recommend checking Adam Ford’s blog each week for answers to the question “Why do you write poetry?”.

Just to say I’ve been enjoying reading your India blog. I’m an India virgin i.e. I haven’t been but really want to go (with Nicola, my wife) so it’s always great to hear about other people’s experiences. You’d recommend it by the sound of it…?
Congrats on getting the residencies. Whenever I think about a residency I look out the window and realise I’m already in the bush and don’t need to go anywhere else for quiet.
Anyway I’m coming down to Melbourne to do a voice workshop with Bayside writers on March 21. Are you a member of a writers group or would you know one that might be interested in what I do? I hope you got something out of the workshop last year…
I did try sending my info to 7 or 8 likely sounding Melbourne writing/ poetry groups that were listed on the VWC newsletter but heard not a thing back. It’s so hard to get the word out. (Don’t we all end up scrabbling around like mice after crumbs. But never mind.) If you’re in Melbourne at the end of March, maybe we could meet up for a coffee.

I really enjoyed your poem in Island 119, also those on Thylazine. A friend of mine, Anjum Hasan, introduced me to your work; she said she met you in India a couple of years ago at a reading.
